Advice for parents

Now is your chance to be heard. Now is your chance to help out some poor kid. Give parents advice on what works and what does not when talking to their kids about tough topics like alcohol. Share what to say and how/when to say it. All comments below are anonymous, so let them have it!

When you want to talk to you kids about drugs then when you try to talk to them dont ack like there in trouble act like its a family convorsation. Also you might want to start talking about abusing drugs at an early age. This is because your son/daughter might find friends that pressure them to do things like that. In your life you've been pressured to do somthing that you may or may not want to do. So trust me don't let your kids do drugs, just take my advice!

When talking to a child about alcohol, you should always remind them of the consequences of drinking and getting caught under age. First of all, starting all the health risks for starting to drink at such a younge age, and how not only are you harming yourself, but your harming everyone around you as well, and not to mention the fact that if you get caught while in high school and are doing sports, you will get kicked off of the team. When talking to your child, do not go straight into how its against the rules to be doing this under age, because then it gives them the thrill of being caught. So just sit them down and in a way, kind of scare them as to what could happen if you drink under age, but also at the same time talk to them not only as a parent, but as a friend, to know that if they have any questions about if they should drink or not, they wont be afraid to come to you about the situation and know that they wont get into any trouble if they may have questions.

When talking to your son/daughter about alcohol tell them about what could happen to their health Ex: it can kill braincells.it can give you alcohol poisening,if they are driving drunk it can also take away someone else's life. tell them it can make their friends not like them,or, it can also get their friends to start a bad habit. it can also make them not aware of where they are, and what their doing, and can also get them in big trouble with the cops. scare them so they know what a bad outcome could happen if they drink, and answer their questions.

When talk about alcohol be calm.Listen to what your child has to say.Tell then about alcohol and how bad it is for you.Let then know that they can tell you anything.

i think parents should talk to there kids about right when they get to be 13...at leats that is when my dad told me about.

i think parents should not just come out and blame there kids of drinking or doing drugs... i think parents should talk to them along in a room with not many distractions . and only the child and the parents in the room....... and if you think you kid has drank before ask hom/or her about her side of the story ........................ or if you just want to tell them that alcohol can and will kill them. or damage them severely. and talk to them before they even get the chance to drink i sugest 6 grade.

I am only twelve and i now not to drink because my school hade Mr. hill [ a man that came to our school and told us first hand that drinking is not that cool in the long run and all of the kids actualy LISTENED] come to our school and talk to us at watervliet middle school

if you want to tell your kids not to drink or dodrugs you shouldnt drink or do drugs in front of them because if you tell some one not to do something it makes you a hippicritical person

I think that when parents talk to their children about stuff like drugs and achohol, they should stay clam about it and talk about all of the bad things that it can do to you. let them ask all of their quetions and answer them all. and try to talk as soon as you can. dont wait till their teens because they might be using the drugs or drinking the achohol already.

My coment is that kids at a young age should not try it. You could damage your brain and mess up your life. If you drink or smoke marjuina you could put your self behhind bars for a long time. This can mean that you won't be able to do the things that other kids get to do. You won't get to do sports like, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Vollyball, or Soccer. This is all my comments.

i think that some good advice to parents is to have a talk with them and tell them what the the importince of not doing drugs because sometimes you can die or be torn out from the inside

If you want your adult friends to stop influencing there kids to drink or do drugs because it is so annoying to here them say what they did wrong when they are smoaking marawana right in froint of you then tell them they are the influence they will change there hearts so there kids will to because the results will be an experince they can share with there kid and there kid will have to believe them because they have seen them in this mood!

NEVER DO DRUGS!You will get sick or have health problems.Do you really want that?I wouldnt!You could go to jail for that and then be forced to quit sports or fun activities.

If you want to tell you kids not to do drugs or marawana or somthing like that then dont talk to them they will make fun of you to there friends so show them an example of how it can effect you and act like your actually drinking or doing drugs they see what it is like and will never want to have a effect like that to there life!

Its helpful when parents listen to their teens' point of view and where they are coming from. Parents can then calmly share their point of view and keep the discussion open and non-confrontational.

Parents NEED to talk to their children about alchocal and drug.The kids won't assume that that their parents think they are useing or addicted. If the kids know the affects, they will be more aware and responsible with the drugs or alchocal. And parents, if the kids ask about drugs and alchocal, DON'T ASSUME ANYTHING!

i think parents should talk to their kids @ a young age. As they grow up there way of thinking is going to be an immediate response that drinking @ high consumption is bad.life can change in a quick second && that you want to see them live life to the fullest,to the longest they can in a healthy way.after that i think theyre always going to take in consideration that you care for them && thyre well being!!!!
